About Jesus

Jesus has always been. He was the creator of the universe. Colossians 1:16 for by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or dominions, or rulers, or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him.

God is three persons, God the Father, God the Son (Jesus) and God the Holy Spirit. Also known as the Trinity.

In the beginning when God created Adam and Eve, there was a direct relationship between mankind and God. But, because of the introduction of sin in the garden of Eden, there was a gulf or separation between God and mankind. Because of this original sin and before Jesus came to earth in human form, sacrifices had to be made to atone for sin. These had to be done with spilled blood of animal sacrifices.

God sent Jesus to earth to be the final sacrifice for mankind. Jesus was fully human and fully God, sinless and perfect in every way.

Jesus was born of a virgin named Mary, from what is called the immaculate conception. He grew up much like any Jew at the time and his trade was that of a carpenter. At the age of 30 Jesus started his ministry. His ministry lasted 3 years and at the age of 33 he was crucified for his preaching. Crucifixion was a brutal execution which was extremely painful, drawn out, and humiliating. People sentenced to death by crucifixion were hung on a cross in public for people to watch you die.

Jesus preached that he was the Messiah who was sent by God the Father. This sounded like blasphemy to the Jews and convinced Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor of Judea, to execute Jesus.

As Jesus prophesied He rose from the grave after three days, defeating death. Jesus was on earth for 40 days after his resurrection and then ascended to heaven. He was witnessed by many over those 40 days. He appeared at least 10 times to His disciples, to small groups and to at least 500 people at one time – all providing infallible proof that he rose from the dead.

Jesus now sits at the right hand of God the Father in heaven. Eternal life in heaven is available to anyone who puts his or her faith in Him. Everyone is invited, but unfortunately, not all people accept His invitation. Eternal life is inevitable, either heaven or hell. It is our choice to make.
